Abstract
To compare the lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced expression of inducihle nitric oxide synthase in the aorta of hypertensive and normotensive rat model we evaluated the impairment of phenylephrine -induced contraction in isolated aorta of spontaneously hypertensive rat(SHR) and Wistar-Kyoto rat(WKY).
LPS (100nnjml)-treatment impaired phenylephrine(10-¢¥~I)-induced contraction in denuded aorta of SHR but not in denuded aorta of WKY. Similar degree of impairment of phenylephrine-induced contraction ~as shown in endothelium intact aorta of SHR with or wiChout LPS-treatment. In intact aorta of ~Vh~~ LPS had no effect on the phenylephrine-induced contraction.
These results suggest that LPS-induced inducible nitric oxide synthase expression is more promi nent ir; SHR than ~~Vh~" and contraction inhibiting factor may he present in endothelial cells of SHR.
